    Overview
    Présentation
An interface between training and integration into the world of work, guidance includes discussion, even polemics on our social model. It provides an opportunity for examining the Republic’s values through such notions as equal opportunity, meritocracy, selection, sustainable access to employment adequation, discrimination and segregation. Everyone can testify to their experience and expertise. Through guidance, the challenge is to find one’s place in a society in the making. Today as yesterday, youth is faced with choices in which dreams, common sense, the desirable and the possible are confronted with procedures, structures and means. Such choices will determine the future, and for some young people, for example those in sections d’enseignement général et professionnel adapté (SEGPAs
    – adapted general and vocational education sections), are made when they are just eleven years old. In an uncertain world where many professions are changing, disappearing and coming into being, where the need for qualifications is increasing and where the statuses of professional activities are called into question, the ability to find one’s way and keep on training throughout one’s professional life has become essential.
