This report takes as its starting point the need to go beyond a mere analysis of GDP trends to reach a relevant verdict of the state of French society. The ESEC has based its work on the ten "new indicators of wealth" in addition to GDP that the Government has adopted. These allow for a more detailed observation on the subject of three key principles: social cohesion, planning for the future and quality of life.
