Facing the challenge of developement : how can we strengthen Frenche NGOs ?

Development aid, the purpose of which is to combat poverty and inequality, but also to be consistent with prospects for sustainable development, is unfolding in a global landscape which has profoundly changed. In this scenario, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), which are very active in development issues, can no longer be considered merely as the means of implementation. They have become co-agents in development, whether for long-term action, for taking action in an emergency or in the role of lobbyists. What position can French NGOs take in the light of these changes? Are they sufficiently large to act? Have they made the necessary changes to become effective and credible operators? It is these questions, which are perfectly aligned with the work of foundations for development and international solidarity, that the ESEC proposes to consider in this opinion, in order to make its contribution by formulating a number of proposals on the ways and means of consolidating and reassessing the place and the role of French NGOs.
